Elizabeth talked to Telegraph about growing up in Hollywood, being photographed and gender pay disparity.

Elizabeth Olsen is in Nashville. It’s green and wet, and she’s surrounded by nature. She flew in the day before – she has a few weeks off before returning to work on next year’s Avengers: Infinity War – and she was hoping to travel incognito.

“No one else had my flight information, I didn’t hire a car, nothing. I got off at Nashville, and there’s one fan there who had pictures to sign, and I just said, ‘No, I’m not going to sign that.’ I think that’s creepy and I don’t think that behaviour should be rewarded. You must have to work really hard to get that information… that’s someone who’s a little bit stalkery to me.”

The 28-year-old actress has been dealing with that kind of attention all her life. As the younger sister of the Olsen twins, Ashley and Mary-Kate, now 31, who were television and film stars as children in the Nineties, Olsen recognises that her experience is out of the ordinary.

“It’s all I’ve ever known,” she says. “I understand that it’s not that normal to be worried about being photographed, when you’re growing up, by strange men around Los Angeles who are chasing you in cars. It made me despise those kinds of people, it made me despise gossip magazines.”

She doesn’t want to comment on Mary-Kate’s remarks, made in 2010, about not wishing her upbringing on anyone. Nor does she want to make a fuss about her own experience of diminished privacy – after all, she says, she’s found ways to deal with it: “When I was at the airport yesterday, one guy came up to me and said, ‘Has anyone ever told you, you’re the spitting image of Elizabeth Olsen?’ And I said, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve heard that before,’ and that was it. I feel bad for Jennifer Lawrence; I’m fine.”

Elizabeth will be a guest alongside co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson on Good Morning America today to promote “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. They already shot the interview earlier this week (by the look of her outfit we guess on April 28) so photos of the interview have been added to our gallery. Thanks to Claudia, who is the webmaster of Incredibly Downey Jr, for donating the photos.

Also a reminder that “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is now out in the US as well!

If there were any question as to whether the actress Elizabeth Olsen remains in the shadow of her older sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley, her role in the new Avengers film should put paid to that notion once and for all. “To be part of a movie that’s as universal as Avengers is incredible,” she says when we meet at Café Gratitude in West Hollywood, a celebrity-favourite vegan haunt where the walls are decorated with vacuously upbeat LA phrases such as “I adore myself and everyone else” and “I know I am divine”.

Petite and pretty, Olsen is instantly recognisable when she arrives, wearing gym clothes – an exercise top, leggings and black trainers – with her blond hair scraped back into a messy ponytail and a chic bag from The Row, one of her sisters’ fashion labels, over her shoulder.

Down-to-earth and self-deprecating, she is seen as the most “normal” of the Olsen sisters, apparently unscathed by the media circus that has surrounded her family since Mary-Kate and Ashley made their acting debut, aged only nine months, on the American sitcom Full House. “It’s just crazy,” says Olsen, 26, who is three years younger than them. “They’ve never had a year off work their whole lives.”
