THR is reporting that Netflix has acquired Lizzie’s upcoming movie “Kodachrome” for $4 million.
Netflix has acquired road movie Kodachrome, which stars Elizabeth Olsen, for $4 million.
Kodachrome tells the story of a record label boss who embarks on a road trip across the U.S. in order to fulfill his father’s dying wish and have a roll of Kodachrome film developed, only to find there’s just one remaining shop accepting them.
Jason Sudeikis and Ed Harris also stars in the movie from director Mark Raso.
Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson, Jonathan Tropper and Leon Clarance produced, along with 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Levine. Dan Cohen, Mary Anne Waterhouse, Laure Vaysse and Jo Monk executive produced.
The film is based on a Dec. 29, 2010 New York Times article by A.G. Sulzberger, “For Kodachrome Fans, Road Ends at Photo Lab in Kansas.” Tropper wrote the screenplay after Robinson, Goldsmith-Vein, Levy and Levine optioned the article.
Kodachrome made its world premiere at TIFF on Sept. 8 in the special presentations section. The deal was negotiated by WME Global and CAA on behalf of the filmmakers and The Solution as sales agent for the film.
