September 1, 2013 Comments Off on “Thérèse” Picked Up Ahead of TIFF

In the first major deal prior to the Toronto Intl. Film Festival, Elizabeth Olsen’s romantic thriller “Therese” has been acquired by Roadside Attractions for U.S. distribution.

Therese” has been set to premiere on Sept. 7 at Toronto. The films also stars Oscar Isaac, Tom Felton and Jessica Lange in the feature film directing debut of Charlie Stratton.

LD Entertainment produced and financed and was planning to distribute prior to the Roadside deal.

Story is set in the lower depths of 1860s Paris, based on Emile Zola’s novel “Therese Raquin.” Olsen plays a sexually repressed young woman who is trapped into a loveless marriage to her sickly cousin (Felton) by her domineering aunt (Lange) before entering into an affair with a childhood friend, played by Isaac.

Roadside Attractions will oversee the marketing and distribution of the film in collaboration with LD distribution topper David Dinerstein.

Producers are Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon and William Horberg.
